What is the P&C?
Carlingford High’s Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) plays a significant role in the life of our school. Our goal is to join our efforts with teachers and students to support and enhance the well-being and learning of all who attend Carlingford High School.
All parents and community members are most welcome at P&C monthly meetings. This is where we come together to

  • find out about the latest events and initiatives at the school
  • decide how P&C can support these initiatives.

Sometimes this means forming a committee to address an issue. Mostly it means discussing and deciding on the best ways to use P&C funding to support students at the school. P&C funding comes mainly from the annual P&C contribution made by families whose children attend the school. Funding also flows from the volunteer effort of mums and dads involved in the Canteen and Uniform Shop.
Some examples of how Carlingford High’s P&C has recently supported the school include:

  • Successful campaign for a new library (the Student Learning Centre)
  • Funds to refurbish and upgrade the school kitchens
  • Funds to upgrade computing technology
  • Funds for a wide range of student welfare programs including guest speakers
  • Volunteer staffing of Canteen
  • Volunteer management, operation and staffing of Uniform Shop
  • Assistance to the Music Parents Support Group
  • Ongoing campaign to improve conditions for students crossing North Rocks and Pennant Hills Roads
  • Improved channels of teacher/parent/student communication

STUDENT SPONSORSHIP

The P&C also sponsors students who are selected for representation (individual or team) at State, National or International level, in any activity associated with public education. The sponsorship support is for $100 to assist in the costs associated with the student’s participation.  Requests should be made in writing to the President of the P&C and marked ‘sponsorship request’ and lodged at the front office.

If you have a child or children attending Carlingford High School, or if you live in the Carlingford High School local area, you are eligible to be a member. All are warmly encouraged to come along – if not regularly, then at least occasionally, to our meetings. Click here for details about our next meeting: Next P&C Meeting All families with children attending the school are asked to contribute financially each year to the P&C itself, or to the P&C-managed Building Fund (the latter is tax deductible). Your contribution is used to enhance provisions for all Carlingford High students. The annual contribution offsets the need for parents to take on extra fund raising work. This is because we understand how busy parents with children of high school age can be.
So do remember to make your financial contribution to the P&C each year!

P&C meetings
The P&C meets once month: -
When: - 7.30pm on the second Wednesday of each month (except during school holidays)
Where: - Student Learning Centre, in the library.
Refreshments are served at the end of the meeting

The P&C can be contact by email. Please click here to do so.

Uniform Shop
The Uniform Shop sells items that are part of the official uniforms of Carlingford High School – both new and second-hand. It is managed and operated by parent volunteers, with all funds raised being returned to the school through projects funded by the P&C. We stock many items of the school uniform, including caps, ties, sports uniform (consisting of sport shorts, trackpants and jackets) and the band uniforms (both casual and formal).
The uniform shop is also well stocked with good quality second-hand clothing at very reasonable prices and is worth a visit, whether it is for a full outfit or just a few extra pieces! Donations of the school uniform are always welcome and can be brought to the Uniform Shop (Friday lunch time) or left at the School Office (on any school day).
Lowes at Carlingford Court sell most of the official Carlingford High school uniforms (both male and female). We would recommend you consider applying for their free Ezy-Way Card. This enables you to always receive a 5% discount on purchases, and several times through the year they hold 20% discount night (but you must have the card to get an invite). The uniform shop is staffed by volunteers and we are always keen for any offers of help.

Canteen
The School Canteen provides a balanced selection of food for staff and students at reasonable prices. It is currently operated and managed by two paid Supervisors and is staffed by parent volunteers. The menu currently offers such things as pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, chicken burgers and most recently an assortment of Chinese meals supplied to us by the Beijing Duck Restaurant at North Rocks. There is also available an assortment of sandwiches and rolls, juices, milk and water.
The Canteen is run by the school.  We have a Committee consisting of the Deputy Principal (Chairperson), a Staff member, the two Canteen Supervisors and two parent representatives. The Committee meets once a month to discuss the running of the Canteen and any issues that may arise. The Canteen is operated in a similar manner to that of a small business and all profits go back to the school to provide additional facilities for students. This of course would not be possible if it were not for (approximately) 70 volunteers that help out.
The Canteen opens at 8.30am every school day and closes at 8.45am.  This time is used primarily to take recess and lunch orders from Students, but food and drinks can also be purchased. The Canteen is then open for Recess and Lunch. The Canteen finally closes for business at 2.06pm.
The Canteen is staffed by volunteers made up of both past and present parents of children at the school. To become a volunteer call the Canteen ring on 9871 5967 and you will be very welcome. Your duties as a volunteer include helping to prepare food such as sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken burgers etc., serving the students and staff, restocking fridges at the end of the day and generally having a good time. If you become a volunteer you would be rostered on Canteen duty one day a month and your day would begin at approximately 9.30am and finish around 2.30pm, however we are very flexible and are willing to accommodate the time you can give us.

New Parents
Volunteering
Parents and family are invited to volunteer to assist with the operation of the School Canteen and the School Uniform Shop. Volunteers are generally required to assist only one day a month – and just for a few hours. Assistance can be given in the canteen or uniform shop.
P&C Fund Raising
Parents and family are asked to contribute to the school P&C by making a financial contribution to the P&C at the time of paying the school contribution. This contribution can go into either the P&C fund or the P&C Building Fund (which is tax deductible). The contribution to the P&C is made in lieu of fundraising activities.
School Contributions
Parents and family are asked by the school to contribute to the cost of subjects undertaken by the student each year. These costs cover any materials that are required for the study of that subject.
